Activities
Nedas foundation , a multicultural organisation for development and welfare of East African immigrants is a community development inclined organisation based in Amsterdam, aimed at achieving the objectives below:
- Supporting the integration process of new immigrants from the East African area.
- Underpin the improvement of living conditions and standards of the Dutch residents hailing from East Africa.
- Support in the emancipation of women imigrants from East Africa.
- Support in the improvement of family life of immigrant East Africans, with emphasis on general family health, and sanitation.
- Promotion of East African Art(s) and Artists. Supporting artists from this region achieve a higher level of proffessionalism and also commercial exposure of their works.
- Promotion of all activities which fall under the above named activities through seminars and fora. Information to the community on Dutch norms and values and vice versa.
Approach ( community)
The most important factor that defines the context of Nedas operations is the urgence to invest in the cohesion of our community.
After a hesitant start, the meetings of Nedas by a larger number of interested persons attended, including an increasing number of immigrants.Our mainthat we can rely on the that we can rely on the support of institutions, the town, friends and acquaintances in organising activities for the benefit of our constituencies.The network that we as a society have built up will not only facilitate our future work, but thanks to the mutual contacts are also promoted the integration.The increased interest in our activities, the Board of Nedas convinced to with equal enthusiasm on the same path to pursue.
Understandably, recent events have led to an urgency of the immigrant community, not excluding ours, to work harder on an inter-ethnic level. The isolation of many newcomers, has potentially raised the group
The structure of Netherlands Development Assistances foundation is composed of an executive board and a number of commissions & stakeholders the general governing board (executive committee ) is formed by the Chairman,Secretary and treasurer.

Here you get help for information and recommendation concerning questions in all kinds of areas.
We offer you services for your questions regarding Welfare, Home & Health problems. etc. This conversation lasts approximately 45 minutes. If it appears that you need more help another appointment is made.
Visits without appointments are on:
On Fridays at 18.00-19.30 hours .

Personal vs. Institutional problems
Are are having bad working conditions,or are you in any kind of trouble with tax related issues, stress, unemployment, other problems? We offer Individual coaching and counseling where necessary (house visits).
Family problems.
During these visits recommendation is given as a result of concrete interrogation in regard to your problems with yourself, partner, your parents or your children, such as violence in the home situation, divorce etc.
During these visits recommendation is given to cases of child upbringing and also informative advice to all kinds of other problems such money,loneliness, solving problems in your surroundings.
Interpretation service
Our team of freelance East African interpreters and translators work together with other translating institutions with text and also live personal or group translations in (Ganda, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, English & other languages - Dutch and the other way around). Official documents and letters from institutions suh as government or the IND is not a problem to us, a timely appointment is necessary to get the work well done.
Music & Art
We organise shows,drama activities and dancing workshops and also participate we in summer activities events, dancing activities o.a Kwakoe summer festival in Amsterdam south East, on weddings, congresses for professionals and sponsorpartners. Our activities have been aimed at non profitorganisaties, businesses, and the government institutions but also private individuals.
Health information (among which is HIV stigma)
Prevention is better than cure" Through informative seminars and meetings we focus on reforming people's behaviour through information and other measures to healthier living habits such as balanced diet, sex conducts,normal drinking habits etc.
We also take note people's complaints from their doctors and advise them for a second opnion elsewhere, through our contact we direct them when they can get urgent help and also assit them incase on language barrier problems.
Emancipation & Integration
We promote participation of women by stimulating social mobility and empowerment through sensitization and active engagement in different projects. The most important difference with similar projects is that the project is entirely organised by immigrant women. The women know how to create an unique atmosphere where immigrant women feel comfortable and safe. Positive developments are visible within the group second generation migrant women who participate more and more in higher education and on the labour market. There are five domains on which we focus on: labour, care and income, schedules, power and decision making, human rights (for example banning domestic violence) and the participation of women in the information and communication technology (ICT).
Project Management
We also work together with other organisations to design and implement projects at all levels, with a proffessional team of volunteers we implement projects in East Africa when funded and the current one is the OBTC Omega Bakery &Technical traning Centre in Uganda which has been established seven years ago for school drop outs to aquire skills to startup their businesses.
